If you're pregnant and debating whether to book your newborn photography session, ask yourself: Will you wish to have these photos later?

Natural Newborn Photography will help you remember

Working with first-time parents (or any parents) is always a highlight.

I can relate to the mix of emotions that come when welcoming a new bubba into the world. As a new parent, you're learning a whole new role; you're full of love and happy hormones, along with the nerves and 'am I doing this right?'.

Everything feels surreal, and you'll probably swear you'll never forget this stage, but once this little person arrives, as cliche as it sounds - time slips away so quickly!!! (Blame baby brain & lack of sleep)

Why Choose an In-home Newborn Session?

There’s just something special about staying at home in your own space. No bags to pack. No rushing out the door. No worrying about how clean your car is or whether you remembered the dummy. At home, there’s a sense of familiarity & calm; you get slow down, and not feel rushed as everything is right at home with you.

Most of my in-home newborn sessions happen here in Whakatāne and the surrounding areas, but I also travel to homes across the wider Bay of Plenty too (for a small travel fee). If you live near Tauranga, Rotorua, Opotiki or elsewhere, just tell me where, and I will provide a detailed quote.

What if my house isn't photo-ready?

Here’s the good news: your home doesn’t need to look like a new build with huge spaces, fancy decor, or bright white walls. Some of my favourite newborn photos have been taken in the smallest corners of a bedroom, a softly lit lounge, and even on a well-loved couch.

What matters most is that you're comfortable. We’ll use natural light and keep things super simple. It’s less about the space and more about the feeling.

When’s the Best Time to Book a Newborn Shoot?

The sweet spot for lifestyle newborn photography is typically when the newborn baby is between 7–21 days old, that’s when they’re still super snuggly and sleepy. But if you’ve missed that window? Don’t stress. I regularly photograph babies up to 8 weeks old, and there’s still plenty of magic to capture at that stage too.

If you’re keen to lock something in, it’s best to book during your pregnancy. That way, we can tentatively schedule around your due date and stay flexible once the baby arrives.

Let’s Plan Your In-home Photo Session

If you live near Whakatane or the surrounding Bay of Plenty and are considering a cozy & relaxed newborn shoot at home, you’re in the right place.

Whether it's your first baby or you’ve done the newborn thing before, these photographs will take you back to that hazy, heart-full season in the best possible way. Pop me a message and let’s chat.
